£955 Raised at Steve Ignorant Band Gig with Online Tickets, Raffle & Benefit Posters!

Updated: May 1, 2022

We're now live-streaming our events to raise awareness of Rockaway Park, as well as provide easy access to live music, community projects, online workshops, classes and symposiums, so that we can engage with more people around the world

We also want to raise funds for charities, organisations and activist groups who are committed to helping others, whether that's people fleeing war zones, struggling with mental health, homelessness, poverty, or fighting against corporations who want to destroy the environment for the sake of even more money.

For the Steve Ignorant Band gig, on Saturday 9th April, we held a raffle with three prizes comprising juicy bundles of stuff - CDs, wood carvings, jewellery, books, t-shirts, paintings, hand-carved mirrors and more, at £2 a ticket. Thanks to people's generosity in donating these fantastic prizes, as well as those who bought tickets, we raised £285!

There were also mixed media cut n' paste posters created by Seditious Screen Prints, on A3 recycled card. Hand-pulled with Permaprint premium solvent free eco inks, they were printed in Carry On Screening's solar powered studio. Ordered in advance and collected at the gig, the sale of these posters raised £325!

Finally, the sale of £5 tickets to watch our first ever live-streamed gig, in real time, raised £345, making a grand total of £955 we've now donated to Médecins Sans Frontières UK/Doctors Without Borders!

A massive thank you to everyone who helped us raise these funds, as well as everyone who bought a ticket, raffle, or poster - you're amazing and together we can help make a difference in the world.

A recording of the live-streamed gig is also now available to watch on our YouTube channel.

We're continuing to raise funds with this page by asking people who watch the recording and want to donate, to check out our fundraising page HERE. Any further donations as a result of the live-stream recording will be split three ways:

  • Médecins Sans Frontières UK/Doctors Without Borders - to continue our support for their vital work across the globe

  • The Performers - to support the continuation of DIY music wherever we can, especially in these difficult times for touring bands

  • Rockaway Park - to support our community-based projects, such as subsidised places on our workshops and developing our Community Forest Garden

Thank you for anything you can donate, however big or small, it's very much appreciated - onwards!

NB: as of Friday 16th April, there are a few posters left, so if you still want one, please email Si at carryonscreening@gmail.com
