Join us for a beginners’ workshop in the ancient craft of corn dolly making. At 11am make a poppet from corn husk and decorate with herbs and wild flowers. Or at 2pm make a traditional harvest token by weaving an ancient wheat strain and decorate with charms and ribbon. Or join us for both!
We are Kitty and Rebecca, or Two Crooked Ladies. We are a queer disabled couple who love rural crafts, traditions and folklore. We began a corn dolly apprenticeship with the wonderful Corn Dollies by Sally in 2024 and with the help of her teaching we have now begun to share and teach this red listed craft, to help ensure that it is kept alive. We’re very passionate about folk traditions and learning from them we have begun to create original designs and wearable pieces in the hopes to bring this once popular craft to a wider audience.
