Who we are
Rockaway Park is a self-sustaining organization committed to community engagement, ethical practices, and the sharing of skills. Our mission is to manifest a kinder, more supportive world through direct, creative action. We are not a charity and are ineligible for most funding streams, which means everything we do relies on community support and a fierce DIY spirit. We believe that making a meaningful difference requires tangible effort, driven by the conviction that "if we are to make a difference in our world it really is down to each of us to make a personal effort!"
Principles
Our work is guided by four core principles that inform every project we undertake:
• Creative: We provide a platform for artistic expression, collaboration, and skill-sharing in all its forms.
• Ethical: We are committed to practices that are fair, just, and respectful to all people and communities.
• Sustainable: We champion green energy, the reuse of materials, and practices that support biodiversity and ecological health.
• Inclusive: We strive to create a welcoming and accessible environment for everyone, irrespective of income or situation.
Causes
In addition to our own projects, we actively champion other community-based groups and campaigns that share our values of social justice, environmental protection, and civil liberty.
